«Does Sena 2013 deserve 99 points? Excel nose of sweet cherry and ripe plums, exotic spices and floral qualities similar to Cote Rotie. More complex nose than 11 and 97, great structure and complexity. Granite and astringent tree bark to the finish. Should be very pleasurable from 2020 onwards and will last for another 15 years. It's unfair to compare Sena with Bordeaux wines as its unique with the blending and it's floral qualities. But hands down Sena beats Bordeaux at the same price! 94-95/100»

«One of Chile’s finest reds - Bordeaux blend (and some Carmenere for good measure) mastered by the legendary Mondavi and one of Chile’s top winery Erazzuriz. It’s not the wine’s fault we are drinking it too early but this rally proves Chile can make premium wines. Superb structure - high acidity, ripe and firm tannins. Blackberries, black plums, black cherries and blackcurrant leaf. As Chris E said before this will age well! Hope to see more examples like this from Chile (hope I will try Almaviva soon!)»

«My favourite of a vertical of 11,14 & 16. This is 58/15/15/7/5 Cab Sauv/Carmenère/Merlot/Petit Verdot/Cab Franc, aged 22m in 75% new French oak. Med ruby. Pronounced aroma intensity, v. rich & creamy w. blackcurrant, black cherry, raspberry & blueberry. Leather, tobacco, cedar & spice of liquorice & clove. Developing w. great finesse & balance. Dry. Very fresh & ripe w. blackcurrant, black cherry, leather, vanilla & clove. M+ alc, high acid, m+ silky tannins, m+ body & a superbly rich, creamy long finish.»

«4,3 Too young? Velvety polished but balanced nose. Oak present, Floral merlot in the nose Clear along with mint, purple reductive blackcurrant and Blackberry fruit, quite timid still, finding it's way between introvert and extrovert, chocolate, spices, all supported by good fruit, alcohol present but not too much, structure still young though in finish oak is little too much with oak tannins. Acidity high but good and needed for concentration. Keep for 10 years plus. Not convinced about top top quality »

«Another excellent vintage of Sena, the fruit has settled and softened compared with the 2016. Deep ruby wine. Intense nose, still very fruity, cassis and plum. French oak: chocolate, coffee, charred wood. More Carmenere, faintly herbaceous. Significant development already compared with the 2016, tobacco and spice. Concentrated and supple. Gorgeous, 4.5*+. The fruit for this Bordeaux blend is sourced mainly from biodynamic plots in Aconcagua, planted by Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi in the 1990s.»
